Abu Dhabi Community Streetscape
Resin-bound aggregate through an Abu Dhabi residential streetscape for Abu Dhabi Municipality — sand-toned verges, tree pits and ornamental planting alongside the community's cycle and jogging tracks.
For Abu Dhabi Municipality, RBS laid the landscaped public realm of a residential neighbourhood in resin-bound natural aggregate — the sand-toned verges, plazas and tree-pit surrounds that run the length of the community’s streets, threaded between its cycle and jogging tracks and its rows of villas. The bound aggregate gives the whole streetscape one warm, continuous ground plane, cut cleanly around each planter and tree pit rather than broken up by kerbs and joints.
It is beautification built for the desert climate. The surface is fully permeable, so it drains without gutters and returns water to the tree roots it surrounds; it needs no irrigation or mowing of its own to stay presentable; and it holds its natural colour and firm, accessible footing under constant residential use and full Abu Dhabi sun — a low-maintenance finish that keeps a neighbourhood’s public realm looking cared-for year round.
