Qidfa Beach, Fujairah

A decorative resin-bound beachfront at Qidfa, Fujairah — a flowing blue-and-grey 'wave' motif drawn in bound aggregate along the promenade, permeable and barefoot-friendly by the sea.

Along the Qidfa Beach front on Fujairah’s east coast, RBS turned the promenade into a decorative surface in its own right — a flowing wave-and-river motif in blue and grey resin-bound aggregate, curving between the palms with the sea on one side and the Hajar mountains behind. Each colour of the design is its own bound pour, meeting the next on a clean line, so the artwork reads as one seamless, walkable surface rather than tiled or painted pattern.

A beachfront is a hard test for any surface — blown sand, salt air, bare feet and full exposure — and bound aggregate meets it well. It stays comfortable and grippy underfoot whether dry or splashed; it is fully permeable, so rain and wash-off drain straight through instead of pooling; and wind-blown sand sits on top to be swept rather than working the surface loose. The result holds both its pattern and its colour under constant coastal sun and footfall.
