Ras Al Khaimah Bridge

On a bridge crossing in Ras Al Khaimah, RBS surfaced the road environment in golden resin-bound natural aggregate — the central median between the carriageways, the shoulder strips along each side, and the embankment slopes of the approach. Bound flush and continuous, the aggregate locks each surface in place: nothing migrates onto the carriageway, and the slopes hold their engineered profile instead of washing down it.

The system does two jobs at highway scale. It is erosion control — storm water passes straight through the permeable surface rather than carving gullies into the embankment — and it is beautification, a clean, uniform desert-gold finish that needs no irrigation, no mowing and no seasonal upkeep. Under full sun and constant traffic, it holds both its bond and its colour.
