Both are trowelled by hand in tight passes to a soft, cloudy, stone-like surface with real marble dust worked into the body — matte to a gentle satin, never a mirror. Marmorino — the Venetian original, from AED 160/m² — is slaked lime worked with marble dust, cured slowly over days rather than hours. That slow cure is why it has a translucency cement never quite reaches: light sits inside the surface rather than bouncing off it, and the wall genuinely grows handsomer with the years rather than just aging. Lime is also naturally breathable and mould-resistant, which suits coastal humidity well in a room that is allowed to breathe.

The cost of that beauty is fragility by comparison. Lime is dressed, not scrubbed — acids and abrasive cleaning etch it permanently, as we cover honestly in our Venetian plaster wall care guide — and it wants a considered, lower-contact setting: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, the walls a household treats gently.

What marmorino cementizio gives you

Marmorino cementizio rebuilds the same look on a cement-and-polymer binder. It sets fast and cures hard, and once cured it takes what lime cannot: ordinary cleaning products, scrubbing, knocks, sun and rain, all without etching. That tolerance is exactly why hotels, restaurants and retail fit-outs specify it over the original — a corridor gets brushed past a hundred times a day, and cementizio simply does not care the way lime would.

What it gives up is honest, too: cement barely breathes, and it misses a share of lime’s inner glow and translucency. It is the working version of the look, not a replacement for the original where the original still makes sense.

Lime marmorino’s confirmed rate starts from AED 160/m². Marmorino cementizio has no separately published UAE rate on this site — priced on consultation, project by project — but the programme difference is real and worth planning around regardless of budget: lime cures slowly over weeks before a wall is fully settled, while cement sets on a working commercial timeline. A fit-out with a fixed opening date will feel that difference in the schedule as much as in the invoice.
