Travertino

A lime plaster that captures the soft, open-pored beauty of travertine stone — quiet movement and gentle shadow across a wall you can run your hand along.

What it is

Travertino is a lime plaster that borrows its soul from travertine — the honeyed, softly pitted stone that has clad Roman baths and grand facades for centuries. Applied by hand in fine layers, it carries the same open pores and gentle drift of tone, so a wall seems to hold light rather than simply catch it.

Up close, it invites touch. Run a hand across it and you feel the faint texture, the quiet dimples, the sense of something formed slowly. From across a room it reads calm and grounded — a backdrop with weight and warmth, never flat, never loud. It brings the presence of natural stone without the seams or the coldness.

Where it comes from

Travertine takes its name from Tivoli, the town near Rome once known as Tibur, where the stone was quarried to build the Eternal City itself. Lime plaster grew up alongside it, the craftsman’s way of drawing that same stone-like beauty across a whole wall. Travertino keeps that lineage alive — an old Italian idea, worked by hand, at home in a modern room.
