How much does poured terrazzo cost in the UAE?

Poured in-situ terrazzo is priced per project, supply and installation included — we do not publish a per-square-metre rate. A cement-binder mix with a standard chip selection is the baseline; epoxy binders and premium chips take the figure upward from there. Every price is quoted per square metre after a site inspection, because subfloor condition and layout change the work involved.

How much does a poured terrazzo villa floor cost?

We price the whole floor after seeing it. Large, open-plan ground floors are where poured terrazzo makes the most economic sense, because the per-metre price falls as the seamless area grows.

Terrazzo cost per square foot and per square metre

We do not publish a per-square-foot or per-square-metre rate for poured terrazzo; we quote and invoice per square metre after a site visit. One square metre is 10.764 square feet, so multiply any square-foot quote by 10.764 to compare it honestly. Check the scope matches before comparing: a lower per-foot number that excludes grinding passes or divider strips is not actually a lower price.

What moves the price

The price rises with the specification:

• Binder type — cement is the baseline; epoxy binders cost more and open up brighter colours and thinner pours.
• Chip selection — premium Italian marble chips cost more than standard aggregate.
• Divider-strip patterns — metal strips laid in geometric designs add setting-out labour.
• Area size — small areas price higher per square metre, since crew and machinery costs are spread over fewer metres.
• Grinding and polishing passes — a deeper, glassier polish takes more passes.

Every price is supply and install. Bespoke work with imported chips is priced on consultation, and every exact quote follows a site visit.

What a fair terrazzo quote must include

A fair poured terrazzo quote names every stage of the work, not just a rate and an area. Use this checklist to compare quotes line by line; a missing line is usually where a cheaper quote got cheaper.

Why are some terrazzo quotes so much cheaper?

Usually because they are not quoting the same thing. The three most common reasons we see:

• Tiles quoted as “terrazzo flooring”. Terrazzo tiles are a real product and cost less, but they are a grid of tiles with grout lines, not a poured seamless floor. If the quote mentions tile size, adhesive or grout, it is a tile quote. Our terrazzo tiles guide explains the difference.
• Missing grinding passes. Grinding and polishing take time and diamond tooling. A quote that leaves out passes, or says only “polish”, may deliver a floor that looks flat and holds dirt.
• Terrazzo-effect paint or a printed coating. A painted chip pattern is far cheaper because it is a few millimetres of paint, not chips and binder. It suits a feature wall for a few years; it is not a terrazzo floor.

None of these is wrong in itself. The point is to compare like with like: a poured, ground and polished floor against another poured, ground and polished floor.

Is poured terrazzo cheaper than terrazzo tiles?

No — terrazzo tiles are cheaper upfront than poured in-situ terrazzo. What tiles cannot give you is a seamless surface: every tile brings grout joints, which collect dirt and read as a grid across the floor. Poured terrazzo is one continuous surface that can be re-ground and re-polished decades later — a repairability tiles do not offer. For a single small room, though, tiles can be the more sensible spend, since small poured areas price high per square metre.

Poured terrazzo or marble slab — which is the better choice?

Marble slab is the better choice for natural veining and book-matched drama, and poured terrazzo is the better choice for a seamless, joint-free floor whose composition you decide yourself. Terrazzo cannot imitate stone’s veining, and we would not pretend otherwise. What poured terrazzo offers instead is a surface with no joints for coastal humidity to work on, a floor that stays cool underfoot through 45°C summers, and a look you compose through chip and binder choices. In day-to-day upkeep, terrazzo asks less of you than polished marble does in the Gulf climate.

How long does poured terrazzo installation take?

Installation typically takes 10 to 15 days, including the cure before grinding and polishing. Terrazzo is poured wet on site, so the binder must cure fully before the floor is ground back — that stage cannot honestly be rushed. We sequence the work so other trades can continue elsewhere in the property while the floor cures.

How much does polished concrete cost in the UAE?

Treat far cheaper quotes with care: many advertised “polished concrete” services are grind-and-seal, a topical coating over lightly ground concrete that neither densifies the slab nor lasts, and it is a different product altogether. Genuine mechanical polishing hardens the surface itself, which is why it endures in villas, showrooms and warehouses alike.

“Terrazzo paint” is a painted pattern: speckles or a printed chip effect applied over a wall or floor so it looks like terrazzo from a distance. Real terrazzo is marble, stone or glass chips set in a cement or epoxy binder and ground back to a polish — a solid surface you can re-grind decades later. This guide is about the real material.
