• Base condition. The single biggest one. A sound existing concrete slab that can be overlaid is the cheap scenario; excavating and building a new sub-base is the expensive one, for every surface on this page.
• Area and shape. Bigger areas price lower per square metre — mobilisation and setup are fixed costs. Complicated shapes, tight curves and narrow side passages add cutting and hand-work.
• Drainage. Where does the water go? Resin bound is permeable, so rain drains through it — often removing the need for channel drains that other surfaces require. Solid surfaces need falls and drainage designed in, and retrofitting drainage is real money.
